I wanted to use the Femme Elite TENS primarily to improve the strength of my pelvic floor. I had my child over 7 years ago and in all that time, my pelvic floor had never been an issue until recently, when I broke my leg.
Having been bound in crutches for over 2 months, my pelvic floor had been weakened by the stress of the accident and the inability to use my leg muscles effectively. This resulted in not getting to the toilet in time!
Like a lot of women who have had children, a weak pelvic floor is a fact of life and can be a touchy subject for most. Many can avoid 'toilet accidents' by regularly exercising the core muscles, which can involve the pelvic floor.
I used the PFS probe, which initially I found to be a scary prospect. However, the actual item was not as imposing as I thought it would be. The instruction booklet gave all the necessary information and assurance I would need. The probe works by engaging the surrounding muscles in the pelvic floor area. This can feel a bit weird at first, but I suspect you could get used to the sensation if used frequently.
I, like most working mothers, am extremely busy, so finding time to sit still for 10-20 minutes was really tough. I found that walking around with it quite peculiar too, in as much as it felt like the probe was going to drop out - especially if I coughed or sneezed (which I have been doing a lot, lately!)
The Femme Elite TENS unit itself is small and compact. It comes in its own smart case which is a handy size to fit in a handbag. The pain relief booklet gives advice on how to use the electrodes and where to place them. The PFS has only one job, so the rest of it was redundant where I was concerned.
Being so busy, I must confess that I only used the PFS about a half a dozen times over a period of 7 weeks, but I did notice a small improvement to my pelvic floor. This meant that I've been managing to get to the loo in time!
