Back to School [groan!]

..or Hooray! Depends how you look at it. We all want our children to grow up to be well educated and confident, but many kids find school confusing and frustrating. However, there are a lot of ways parents can help in their child's learning and development - plus making it more fun too!

Let's play a game:
Take the chore out of homework by turning it into a game. Just about any task can be fun and exciting. By setting goals at the end of each exercise, you can give incentives such as: marbles, playing cards or stickers. For every correct answer your child gives, you reward them with a sticker or such like. You can even set targets by drawing up a chart displaying the number of stickers earned at each homework session.

Learning on the go:
Little do they know it, but children are improving their learning skills every day by doing simple things like; shopping! You can give them small exercises such as;

• Counting apples into the bag
• Reading the food packaging
• Adding up the prices of 2 or more grocery items
• Comparing the weight of different objects etc..
