How to be a Yummy Mummy!!

January is here and you're thinking; If only I hadn't eaten that EXTRA piece of Turkey/Goose/Chicken/Nutroast at Christmas (delete as applicable)! Well, now you can use this opportunity to get yourself back in shape or even start a new health regime altogether. Here are some useful tips in quitting the bad habits and taking up some good ones:

• Ditch the car: Little things like walking to the local shops or taking the children to school can make a huge difference to your health, waistline and the environment.
  
  
• Exercise at home: Doing at least half an hour of basic aerobic exercise is a great way to shed those pounds and inches (kilos and centimetres for metric maniacs!). You can even get your baby or toddler to join in. By counting your reps out loud, you'll not only be getting a work-out but you'll also be helping your child's numeracy development! :-)
  
  
• Go swimming/running/aerobics: Make it part of your routine, so that each week you designate a morning, afternoon or evening to a particular exercise - i.e. Every Tuesday evening at 8.00pm I go to aerobics. If this routine is hard-wired in your diary (and in your mind), you will never use the excuse "I don't have the time".
  
  
• Cut out ONE thing: There is always something in your diet or routine that is threatening your health, be it smoking or eating a lot of fatty foods. Try cutting out one particular naughty habit and make sure you stick to it. If say, after 6 months of doing without it, you can go on to cutting out something else as well - but this is optional. Don't go overboard in the cutting out process, you want to concentrate on one thing at a time - so start now.
